It is a time in our lives we will never forget. The months we had to spend in isolation due to a global pandemic. Who would have thought?! Although we have many reasons to feel anxious and worried, we can see this downtime as an opportunity. To focus on those things we have been putting off due to lack of time, things that will help us feel stronger and more in control, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Call me biased but I am absolutely loving seeing people in the streets getting fit, and running seems to be the top pick, likely because you can do it on your own, and you don’t need any equipment besides a good pair of runners.

Movement is crucial to how we function throughout each day, blood flow and oxygen levels increase, improving concentration and lifting our mood; increasing our metabolic rate so we feel less lethargic. Our quality of sleep increases. Our bones, muscles and nervous system need movement to stay healthy, right down to a cellular level. The opposite of movement is stagnation and nothing survives in a stagnant environment.
