Torus founder Emma Somerville has a special interest in exercise for mental health, this passion has evolved throughout her long career in health and fitness to include trauma informed exercise to help those going through addiction recovery.

We know from a huge amount of scientific evidence that physical activity is beneficial for mental health. Physical activity is a recommend component of treatment for many mental illnesses. There is a growing body of evidence in the space of exercise being an important part of addiction recovery. We know that where there is addiction more often than not there is emotional trauma, psychological and physiological pain.

Physical activity gives us the opportunity to connect body and mind, a union where healing can begin.
